Forni di Sopra is well-known for being the Alpine pearl of the Friulian Dolomites and it allows you to enjoy a breathtaking sunrise or sunset from the central square of the village. The north-east walls of the Friulian Dolomites, overlooking Forni di Sopra, are in fact the first to be illuminated by the morning sun. The moment when the first sun illuminates the Dolomites is an extraordinary gift of nature. This optical phenomenon is called in Italian as Enrosadira (known in English as Alpenglow), and it is repeated every sunrise and sunset in good weather. The light rock of the Dolomites takes on a spectacular color between pink and orange with different shades depending on the weather conditions.

A ring route itinerary from a mountain hut to another in the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009. Far from the crowded Dolomites, a real hiking adventure that in 4 days touches the refuges Flaiban-Pacherini, Pordenone, Padua and Giaf, crossing in altitude the wonderful and wild valleys of the unknown groups of Pramaggiore, of the Monfalconi, of the Spalti di Toro and of the Cridola, with numerous possibilities of variations with different difficulties and efforts and of climbs also mountaineering to the peaks.

The trek allows you to have a complete five-day tour of the beautiful basin of Forni di Sopra, in a continuous alternation of natural, geological and human environments. The itinerary might be modified according to different levels of difficulty and length and at any time can be interrupted without problems for the get back of the vehicle. The starting point and the finishing point is the campsite “Tornerai” in the hamlet of Andrazza o directly the center of Forni di Sopra.

In settembre, Sutrio si trasforma in un microcosmo operoso che mostra al visitatore incantato i mille modi di lavorare il legno, accanto alle più raffinate espressioni dell’arte femminile del ricamo, della confezione di “scarpets”, della filatura. In ogni caratteristico borgo, in ogni corte, sotto ogni porticato viene allestito un piccolo laboratorio; la musica di una fisarmonica, la degustazione di piatti tipici e di prodotti “Carnia Doc” concorrono a creare la magia.

Il monte Zoncolan rappresenta storicamente una delle tappe più dure del Giro d’ Italia. In estate la salita è meta di turisti e appassionati di ciclismo essendo tra le più impegnative d’Europa. Nei dintorni dello Zoncolan, l’area di Ravascletto - Sutrio offre innumerevoli opportunità per il tempo libero. I più sportivi hanno a loro disposizione spettacolari tracciati da percorrere in MTB e in E-BIKE.

A pochi chilometri da Trieste si trova l’altipiano carsico, una terra aspra e dura come la roccia che la costituisce ma autentica e legata alle tradizioni, capace di regalare emozioni e scorci di ineguagliabile bellezza. Il nostro itinerario tra i muretti a secco, borghi con le case di pietra, doline e resti di antichi castellieri ci porterà a vivere un’esperienza naturalistica davvero suggestiva, la visita della Grotta Gigante, una grotta carsica contenente la sala naturale più grande al mondo. Il percorso è lungo 850 mt e consente di raggiungere la profondità di 101 mt sotto la superficie terrestre percorrendo 500 gradini. La temperatura all’interno della Grotta è costante tutto l’anno intorno agli 11° C. Dopo la passeggiata sosta in una delle “osmize” per uno spuntino e un buon bicchiere di vino.
